The actual mindmap versions are available in two forms:
╖ as a set of individual disk images. This allows you to make a copy of the mindmap installation to 3.5" media, so that you can use these for installation on a system which does not have access to a CD-ROM drive.
╖ a directory containing all files necessary to install mindmap. This is the version you would use to install mindmap directly from the CD.
The directory containing the disk images is:
\DISKS
This is the directory from which you should create your disk images. Simply copy each directory (\DISK1, \DISK2, etc.) onto separate media. Once this is complete, insert the media containing the contents of \DISK1 into the drive on the target system and type SETUP (pointing at the appropriate drive).
If you execute the SETUP program from the CD, the directory from which mindmap will be installed is:
\SETUP
A list of all files installed on your system is contained in the file FILES.TXT on the CD, which can also be found in the root directory of the CD.
The CD also includes an installable version of Video for Windows. If you do not have it installed on your system, please navigate to the directory:
\VFW
launch the program SETUP and follow the instructions displayed on the screen. This is the 16-bit version intended for 16-bit Windows.
If you encounter any difficulties using ODBC as it is installed from the CD, you may want to install it from the directory:
\ODBC
on the CD. Navigate to the directory and launch the program ODBCSTP.EXE. Please follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
2. Documentation
The CD contains an electronic version of the documentation, which you can either view on screen or print to your printer. The documents are stored in Adobe Acrobat format. In order to process this format, Adobe makes their Reader available. This Reader may be distributed, given that the user accepts the License Agreement. Adobe's Acrobat License Agreement is contained in a file named ACROREAD.WRI. Please read this agreement and accept it. Then you should install the Reader. To install the Acrobat Reader, navigate to a directory called:
\ACROREAD
Run the file named SETUP and follow the instructions.
The CD contains the documentation as one large file named MANUAL.PDF. It also contains each individual chapter. The chapter files are named as the chapters in the documentation are entitled. These files are all contained in the directory:
\DOCU
on the CD. To view the documentation on the screen, launch the Reader and open the appropriate file. If you wish to print all or part of the documentation, simply select the Print menu option.
3. Help System
The Help system is supplied in 16- and 32-bit versions. The 16-bit version is required, if you are running Windows 3.1, 3.11 or Windows for Workgroups.
The 32-bit version can be used in the Windows95 environment.
The mindmap installation process will automatically detect the environment it is running on and install the appropriate Help file. We must note, that not all Help features available in the 32-bit version are available in the 16-bit version.
4. mindmap Examples
This CD includes a collection of examples intended to assist you in learning mindmap. All of these files are contained in the directories beneath:
.\SAMPLES
In addition to these examples, the documentation makes reference to other examples, which are discussed in the documentation itself. These examples can also be found beneath the .\SAMPLES directory. Please feel free to use these examples as you deem necessary. We do not claim any rights to them, so you may freely modify and distribute the files.
5. General Assistance
In some installations of mindmap on 16-bit Windows (Win3.1, Win3.11 and WfW), you might encounter problems running three of the sample applications (BMPVIEW, PROFILE and .\SEMINAR\SEMINAR). Locate the link including a reference to GetHomeDir. Instead of pointing to the default directory, manually enter the directory in which the application resides.
6. How does the Serial Number Work?
The serial number is either offered when zou download off the Internet, or it is conatined in the package zou have received. The demo serial number will allow zou to install and use mindmap for 60 days. It is a full version. After the 60 day period, you will not be able to execute mindmap any longer. Any application you built with mindmap will also not execute. After purchasing a license, mindmap and any you built can be executed again.
Please take note of the serial number, since it is also you key to online support. The last four digits are your personal PIN, the first digits are displayed in the |About mindmap..." box.

8. How can I order mindmap?
mindmap is available in two versions:
Desktop version
Enterprise version
Both versions offer the same basic functionality. The Enterprise version additionally allows you to assemble client/server applications and to generate EXE files. You can easily upgrade from the Desktop version to the Enterprise version.
